Regiment Picardie

This is the regiment Picardie on parade:

The drummer has my interpretation of the royal livery, seeing as how the colonel of this regiment was Louis Quatorze.
Unfortunately my printer has suddenly decided not to accept print cartridges anymore, so the flags will have to wait.

Next up will be the regiment Blaisois, they had a simple uniform so will be good practice. The one I do after this regiment will be something more colourful.

En avant!

A marching we will go...

So after Edzard's progress, I too now have finished a single base.

I had a lot of fun painting these little guys from Dixon Miniatures and have since prepped the next 6 guys for base numbero dos.

Anyways, without further ado:

As you can see, I've chosen to keep my basing a little minimalist, because I don't want the basing to overshadow the models. I'm sure it'll look vegetated enough with 3 bases in a regiment.

Anyways, let me know what you guys think. Onwards and upwards!

First stand of French finished

Last night during a Paint & Chat session over at the Miniature Modelling Mayhem Facebook group I managed to finish the first stand of French. They are from the Regiment Picardie, one of the oldest in the French army at the time.

The figures are joy to paint, and I hope en-masse they will look pretty cool. The uniforms are not as flashy as the British with all the grey, but good practice in painting grey. I took a simple aproach of painting a dark grey basecoat (VMC London Grey) and highlighting it quite heavily with a light grey (VMC Light Grey).

En avant!
